Abstract

The Magnetically Insulated Line Oscillator (MILO) is a crossed-field device which uses a large (10s of kA) axial current to produce an azimuthal magnetic field. Coupled with a multi-cavity slow wave structure, this beam can produce microwave powers on the order of gigawatts. As a high-current, low-impedance device, the MILO may be profitably paired with a compact pulse power generator such as a Linear Transformer Driver (LTD). This paper presents results of simulations and experiments with this configuration.
