Abstract
Metadata technology is an important method to enhance the effect of information service in field of data management. As a main component of metadata technology, metadata acquisition plays a key role because the quality of metadata acquired will directly determine user experience for metadata use. With the rapid growth of electronic resources and the continuous emergence of new information requirements, acquiring effective metadata has become more difficult. In this paper, we introduce a tentative experiment. We explore some useful markings, which users write down in resources, and analyze their influence on metadata acquisition. Along with these clues, a self-organizing map based method of acquiring metadata is implemented for quality evaluation. Finally in our experiments, using the three groups of evaluation plans, we show according variation of effect on user experience.
