Commentary: urban and regional inequalities and the architecture of EU Cohesion Policy

Abstract

Tomasz Komornicki develops an argumentation from territorial inequalities to the question of appropriate levels and structures of regional policy intervention;thus, deriving normative aspects on the ground of analytical results of the chapters. He then approaches the question whether a crisis like the Covid-19 pandemic will - similarly to the past severe crisis of economic recession in 2008/09 - reinforce urban and regional disparities. Inspired by the chapters of the themed Part B of the edited volume, he closes with recommendations for future EU Cohesion policy - ultimately putting hope in a guiding, new Territorial Agenda 2030. © Daniel Rauhut, Franziska Sielker and Alois Humer 2021.
