Computation for Science and Engineering

Abstract

Computation for Science and Engineering is an introductory computer science course for students majoring in fields other than computer science. This course, which was previously taught as a traditional introductory course focusing on syntax of C, will be offered with its new curriculum in Spring 2010. The new curriculum defocuses syntax and involves students in analyzing dynamic systems, which are frequently not deeply understood by students attending science and engineering courses. This course aims at attracting more non-computer science majors into computing disciplines and providing students with a deeper understanding of dynamism of real-life situations.
