Abstract

The implementation of Common Core Standards for English Language Arts (2010) will require the use of more complex text and an increase in the use of informational text; however, reading research and best practices in literacy instruction confirm the value of a narrative read-aloud. Read-aloud time using narrative texts must still be included as a vital part of literacy instruction.
