Performance Enhancement of Spectral Multi Diagonal Code by Incorporating Polarization Multiplexing

Abstract

An improved spectral polarization multi-diagonal (MD) system is presented by exploiting the property of polarization of fiber. The performance of polarized MD scheme is enhanced two times that of the traditional MD system. This method can be used to increase the number of active users by assigning vertical or horizontal polarization states of each sequence code. The numerical results show that the polarized MD scheme can meet the optical transmission property with 200 and 300 users, using two or three wavelengths as a code weight, respectively.
