With PD, the insulation decreases rapidly that leads to an electrical breakdown. Continuous PD monitoring is required for the safe operation of HV power equipments in order to avoid unforeseen power outages and damages to the equipments. PD detection will help in reducing ambient noise and electromagnetic interferences from surrounding devices. To address the same, this research work proposes a compact Ultra-wideband Patch Antenna (UPA) using dual Rampart Line Structure, slots and Defected Ground Structure (DGS). The proposed antenna, on RT/Duroid 5880 dielectric substrate, is shown to have directivity of 7.75dB in the UWB range with very small surface current density.
