Abstract
In this paper we give an overview of a web-based geographical information system called GeoTime 2.0. Despite being light-weight, it possesses the features essential for conducting research into complex processes which involve large amounts of data. These features include (i) network access to distributed geographical information (ii) modern methods of knowledge acquisition from spatial and spatio-temporal data, (iii) high interactivity and clarity of visualization leading to boost the decision-making efficiency. Even though the main application of this system is the seismic hazard research, it can also be effectively applied for modeling various dynamic processes which we demonstrate on the example of modeling the process of pollution distribution associated with the water surface-flow.
