Packet transport network (PTN), which has not only almost the same advantages as MSTP in network construction, but has other characteristics like cost-effective as well, is been recognized as the most promising technique in multi-service bearing. Seamless fusion of PTN and SDH/MSTP network and their corresponding equipments from different providers, and the smooth evolution from SDH/MSTP to PTN are important issues which have been considered most by network operators and should be solved urgently. Till now, most research has only been focused on the advantages of employing QinQ in networking, and on the performance analysis on one or more specific services, attention has not been paid enough on fusion networking issue and the corresponding fusion problems of equipments from different providers in such a technique evolution stage.
