Abstract

Wound rotor induction motors have been underestimated for specific applications and high power. Therefore, in this paper, the optimization of the design of a wound rotor induction motor using a genetic algorithm with objective function including power losses and motor weight is proposed. Initially, after Magnetic Equivalent Circuit (MEC) modeling, different parameters are selected with sensitivity analysis, and then optimization process is performed on a sample of 4.3 MW, 6 kV, 1000 rpm.
