History of Economic Thought at the Sorbonne (Université de Paris I)

Abstract

The University of Paris I offers two types of degrees in economics at the M.A./M.S. level: (1) the Diplome d'Etudes Approfondies (D.E.A.) trains students for careers in research and in teaching, both in the public and private sectors. It is also the traditional stepping stone to the doctorate. (2) The Diplome d'Etudes Superieures Specialisees (D.E.S.S.) is a terminal, professional degree that prepares students for careers in business, society, or university administration. Candidates for each degree are chosen, according to their goals and aptitudes, by the faculty charged with administering the programs.
