Simple Projection Mapping for Food: Local Appearance Modification for Enhancement of Perceived Deliciousness

Abstract

The appearance of food is one of the most important factors for judging its deliciousness. This paper proposes a simple method to enhance the degree of subjective deliciousness of food visually perceived by a person by automatically changing its appearance in a real environment. The proposed system calculates a texture image from a captured camera image and directly projects the image onto the food using a projector with almost no analysis of the image unlike previous studies. The experiment with the small samples partially verifies that the system can change the food appearance and improve the subjective impression of the target food.
