Abstract

The vestigial sideband modulation scheme using two parallel Dual-Drive Mach-Zehnder Modulator (DD-MZM) for radio over fiber (RoF) has been proposed in this paper. One DD-MZMs is configured to produce an optical single sideband (OSSB) modulation schemes, and another DD-MZM is configured so that if its output is added to the first DD-MZM output, it will produce unequal sideband millimeter wave (mmw). The measurement results show that RF signal power fluctuations received in the OVSB modulation scheme are smaller than the Optical Double Sideband (ODSB) and OSSB modulation schemes.
