Abstract

Our research group has been investigating the possibility of occurrence and the mechanism of parametric resonance (P.R. in short) and has gained several kinds of knowledge on this category of resonance. We observed the resemblance between the frequency response type representation of the hetero-P.R. and that of Duffing's equation (nonlinear ODE). We further noticed that stability of One-Machine-to-Quasi-Infinite-Bus power system approximately corresponds to the "jump phenomena" of Duffing's equation. This fact has been confirmed by theory and simulation, and "Relationship of Marginal Parameters" is proposed. Extension of this idea to a multi-machine power system is suggested as a future problem.
