Abstract
A novel pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) system with a PWM power factor correction (PFC) converter is proposed. The output of the PAM inverter can be controlled by the PFC converter. To reduce the torque ripple in the induction motor a new modulating signal is used for a PAM inverter. The modulating signal has the flat portions of 120-degrees. By using the proposed modulating signal, the amplitude of the fundamental component is increased, the switching loss is decreased and the motor driven by the PAM inverter produces approximately constant torque.<>
