Multi-path Routing Based on Relative Cost in Elastic Optical Networks

Abstract

Multi-path RSA is a favorable strategy to balance traffic distribution and to reduce the call blocking probabilities in elastic optical networks (EON). We propose an adaptive multi-path routing and spectrum allocation (RSA) based on the relative cost technique. The relative cost estimates the longterm effect on network resources if a call is carried out. The path or multi-path with the least relative cost is selected. Furthermore, the call is only accepted if the least relative cost is less than the call's reward. We will show the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive multi-path RSA by simulation.
