Abstract
TM surface waves on an interface between semiconductors, ferrites or artificial dielectrics are considered. The normalised phase coefficient, ß/k0, is calculated for a range of values for the two media, first with (¿r1 = 1, ¿r1 = 1) and then with (¿r1 = 1, ¿r1 = -1) assuming - 5 < ¿r2/¿r1 < 5, -5 ¿r2/¿r1 < 0. This range of parameters includes some "double negative" cases for the second medium. Dispersion diagrams are presented for the case where region 1 is an artificial magnetic dielectric and region 2 is a semiconductor plasma. The results have implications for the design of miniature passive components.
