Abstract
This work describes the dynamic equivalent model of the interconnected Paraguayan-Argentinean Power System. This model was developed for testing protective and controlling devices in a hardware-in-the-loop simulation to ensure system safety and enable the protection of power systems' interconnection. The equivalent was computed using the concepts of generators' coherency, radial-equivalent-independent network reduction, and frequency response equivalency for the aggregation of controllers. The equivalent model presented a significant reduction of the number of elements, having a compelling impact on the computational burden. The equivalent model had presented good results regarding the compatibility to the main complete power system model desirable features, such as stability results, as presented for small-signal stability analysis and large disturbances simulations.
