Abstract

This paper presents a preliminary study of terahertz (THz) attenuator calibration by using a THz calorimeter. Highly sensitive calorimeter achieves simple and accurate attenuation calibration at room temperature. The calibration method is based on a power ratio measurement by DC substitution. The attenuation measurement is demonstrated for a metalized-film attenuator at 1 THz using a photomixer as a THz source. The measurement results show good repeatability for attenuation of approximately 3 dB.
