„Ach! Ukrainy nie będzie!”. O specyficznym ujęciu tematu ukraińskiego w polskiej poezji romantycznej

Abstract

The paper is devoted to the peculiar way of depicting Ukraine in the works of Polish Romanticist poets. It is shown there as a land undergoing a process of disappearance - in a visual or historiosophical sense. The process of visual disappearance is addressed in works describing the impressions of a stranger, a tourist - simultaneously fascinated by Ukraine and unable to find himself in its infinite space. The historiosophical or metaphysical disappearance, in turn, is the subject of works of the "Ukrainian school", which reflect concern with the violence of civilisational or political changes and death - in the broadest sense - of people, places and social order.
