Nonunion of Osteoporotic Hip Fracture Successfully Treated with Teriparatide

Abstract

Consequences of osteoporotic hip fractures are significant in terms of lives lost and the associated negative impacts on patients' functioning and quality of life. Treatment options for patients with hip fracture depend on the location and pattern of the fracture, patient characteristics, and available osteoporotic medications. This report shows the efficacy of daily PTH 1-34 injection for the treatment of osteoporotic hip fracture nonuion in a patient who did not respond to osteoporotic medication after surgery.
