Abstract
An Analytical approach is presented to evaluate the bit error rate (BER) of a 3×3 MIMO OFDM power line communication system taking into account the combined effect of impulsive noise, background noise and crosstalk due to mutual coupling among the conductors of a 3-phase line. The BER performance results are evaluated numerically. It is noticed that a 3×3 MIMO PLC system is affected by crosstalk. At a BER of 10-6, the crosstalk penalty is found to be approximately 5dB for MIMO PLC for a line length of 100m. The penalty due to impulsive noise is also significant.
