Abstract

This paper will analyse the power requirements of a general computer system as well as a particular Univac product related to distributed communications processing. Some general criteria for power levels and quality will therefore be developed. Utility requirements and governmental codes (UL, CSA, IEC, VDE, etc.) will be discussed. To provide the power level density and quality required by present systems, Univac's power supply facility in Dorval, Canada, has developed a line of standard power supplies.
