Abstract

The performance of the residual carrier communication system that employs the PCM/PM modulation technique with imperfect NRZ data format and band-limited channels are investigated, with particular emphasis on space telemetry receivers. Only the effects of imperfect carrier tracking induced by an imperfect data stream are considered. The symbol error rate (SER) performance degradation due to the presence of imperfect data stream is evaluated and compared with the results obtained by computer simulation.
