Abstract

It is very important to efficiently design induction motors from the thermal point of view. For this task it is crucial to compute correctly the induced currents in the rotors, because heating is principally generated there. The currents flowing in the coils of the stator are another source of heating. This paper presents a weak coupled model of the electromagnetic and the thermal phenomena for transients. Special attention is paid to model correctly the air gap zone for the thermal part.
