A new species of Andricus Hartig gallwasps from California (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae: Cynipini) galling Notholithocarpus (Fagaceae)

Abstract

Abstract Andricus notholithocarpi, n. sp. (Hymenoptera, Cynipidae, Cynipini) from California, USA, that induces galls on Notholithocarpus (Fagaceae) is described. Description, diagnoses, biology, and host associations for the new species are given. The different gall types induced by this species are described in detail. The new taxon is supported by morphological and molecular data.
