Abstract
The paper is concerned with estimation of a stator and rotor windings resistances of an induction motor. For this purpose, a novel estimator is proposed which is based on a model reference adaptive system (MRAS). The estimator utilizes two quantities such as active and reactive power of the motor therefore is named PQ-MRAS. The main advantage of proposed system is possibility to simultaneous calculation of stator and rotor resistances. In the paper a detailed description and mathematical model of the novel estimator is provided. Results of simulation tests for various cases performed by MATLAB/Simulink software are presented as well.
