Abstract
The Pico Hydro Power Plant (PHPP) is a small-scale hydroelectric power plant that produces less than 5 kW of electrical power. This small-scale power plant is suitable for irrigation canals with low fall height and discharge. One location that has the potential to be made PHPP is the Ngentep irrigation channel in Giripurno Village, Magetan Regency. This research, located in Giripurno Village, seeks to design a Pico Hydro Power Plant (PHPP). Topographic surveys and surveys of soil conditions are carried out. Then the data is processed with the help of software in the form of Microsoft Office, HPP Design, AutoCAD, and Sketchup to produce effective fall height, electrical power, electrical energy, soil carrying capacity, and 2D and 3D design drawings. There are two alternative designs for planning this Ngentep PHPP. Design I, with a discharge of 0.1917 m/s and an effective head of 1.77 m, produces a power of 1.7662 kW and annual energy of 15472 kWh, while Design II, with a discharge of 0.02 m³/s and an effective head of 2.0699 m produces power 0.2762 kW and annual energy 2419.13 kWh. The turbine housings of both designs were designed with a shallow rectangular foundation and analyzed by the Schmertmann equation using an SF of 3, resulting that both methods being safe.
