Abstract

This paper is a review of two studies comparing hamstring tendon autograft reconstruction with patellar tendon autograft reconstruction for the repair of ACL tendon rupture. The two studies being reviewed are “Patellar Tendon Versus Hamstring Tendon Autografts for Reconstructing the Anterior Cruciate Ligament” and “Patellar Tendon Versus Hamstring Tendon Autografts for Reconstructing the Anterior Cruciate Ligament: A Meta-Analysis Based on Individual Patient Data.” The purpose of the review is to answer the question, “What is the best graft to use for ACL reconstruction in adult, male football players; bone-patellar tendon-bone autografts versus hamstring tendon autografts?”
