Abstract

The live-line maintenance robot is the only robot that functions in an outdoor environment, namely in unstructured public spaces, especially in Japan. The technological impact of the development of this live-line maintenance robot is important in the future realization of "familiar robot society to human being", and the social significance of the development is also large. Therefore, the live-line maintenance robot should not be developed merely for its customized function, but be developed for general-purpose key technologies which will support the future utilization of robots in other fields.
