Abstract

The IP-SAN based on third party transfer protocols comprises host(s), controller(s) and stores by extending the SCSI-3 transport layer to support distribution application. In the implemented architecture data may be sent directly between host and stores, passing all commands through the controller retains simplicity, relieving the controller communication bottleneck. A prototype IP-SAN using Ethernet and Linux OS with the system implemented in the iSCSI transport layer protocol and in the controller's SCSI application layer, has been constructed.
