Improving the performance of PCB inductors for WPT systems using magnetic shields

Abstract

This paper describes the use of magnetic shielding materials for improving wireless power transfer (WPT) systems efficiency by increasing the inductance of printed circuit boards (PCB) inductors. Two off-the-shelf materials are compared with a specially-made ferromagnetic disc and the inductance and quality factor results are discussed.
