REDUCTION OF FUNCTION AND FORM IN AN ARCHITECTURAL OBJECT ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE LIGHTHOUSE

Abstract

In this article, a relationship is sought between the obvious, externally perceived features of an architectural object - function and form - and the undefined "essence" of this object, which, however, expresses the basic meaning of its existence. As a result of the conducted analysis, the inalienable features of an architectural object have been distilled, which at the same time are a response to the needs underlying the creation of the object, i.e. its construction and use. As an example, the lighthouse was analyzed due to its simple functional and formal structure, as well as the ability to show, in this case, how to define the primary attributes of architecture in order to correctly establish a hierarchy of importance - be it functional or formal.
