Abstract

Fluid resuscitation affects blood flow and oxygen concentration. Administered fluid increases blood flow and oxygen delivery rate but also decreases blood oxygen concentration. This study aims at analyzing these two effects on oxygen supply to tissue to determine an optimal fluid regimen. For this purpose a hemodynamic model of the cardiovascular system and a model of oxygen transfer to tissue were developed and combined.
