Since the end of the last century, numerous memoirs of writers, public and political figures, revolutionaries, caught in the whirlpool of history have been published. Unfortunately, some of the memoirists today have been forgotten. One of them – Sergey Rudolfovich Mintslov (1870–1933), bibliographer, journalist, writer. About his library there were legends, and his adventure novels were read by young people. The article gives an analysis of the memoir book of S.R. Mintslov "Petersburg in 1903– 1909 years". The author of the memoirs collaborated in many St. Petersburg publications of that time. In his book, he not only describes the events, but also talks about how they were reflected in press publications.
