In this paper, an optimal planning strategy for integrated electricity and natural gas system by means of particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed, the P2G devices are added in this hybrid system. The goal of this strategy is to optimize the sizing of P2G plant based on return on investment (ROI) index. Abstract

The wind resource is comparatively abundant and the installed capacity of wind power in some areas has increased rapidly in recent years, but the phenomenon of the curtailment of wind power under high penetration is still serious. Power-to-gas (P2G) can be used as a large-scale storage device to store the excess wind power. In this paper, an optimal planning strategy for integrated electricity and natural gas system by means of particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed, the P2G devices are added in this hybrid system.
