Abstract
Health education is the first step in improving one's skills, especially adolescents, one of which is health education regarding BSE. BSE is a process where women check their breasts regularly to detect any abnormal swelling or lumps in order to get medical attention as soon as possible. BSE is considered a screening test that is safe, convenient because it is self-administered, cost-effective, acceptable and effective in reducing breast cancer mortality. To determine the effectiveness of the peer group education method with a demonstration method on BSE skills in students of SMKN 1 Ciamis. The research method is quantitative with an Experimental type two group pretest posttest design. The sampling technique was total sampling, namely all PMR students at SMKN 1 Ciamis. The research instruments were in the form of observation sheets and teaching aids. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney statistical test. The peer group education method with the highest frequency was the skilled category as many as 23 people (92%). The demonstration method with the highest frequency was the skilled category as many as 21 people (84%). The results of the statistical test with the Wilcoxon test obtained the value of = 0.000 < = 0.05 (5%). The results of the Mann Whitney test showed that the peer group education method was 26.58 higher than the average skill after health education with the demonstration method, which was 24.42. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the demonstration method and the peer group education method on the respondents' skills regarding BSE which is indicated by the sig value. 0.005 < 0.05 significance level.
