The evolution of the dipole antenna based on the slotted patch is introduced. The effects of the patch on the central dipole are analyzed in detail. A low profile single polarized dual-band coplanar antenna with wide impedance bandwidths of 21.12% and 61.43% is realized and fabricated. The proposed antenna has peak gains higher than 9.1 dB in the lower band and 7.9 dB in the higher band. The measured isolation between the two ports is greater than 23 dB.
