Abstract

The benefits and safety of carotid endarterectomy (CEA) for the treatment of carotid artery stenosis are well established. Perioperative complications such as thrombosis, embolism, and subsequent stroke caused by technical error can potentially prevented if detected and addressed while still in the operating room.
