Abstract

Metasurfaces have emerged as a revolutionary platform for intelligent communications by manipulating electromagnetic waves in dynamic manners. Here, we propose a 2-bit coding reconfigurable intelligent surface to achieve intelligent far-field beamforming, regional signal enhancement, and communication quality improvement through modulating the loaded PIN diodes by an external micro-controller. The experimental results demonstrate the metasurface’s ability in regulating the electromagnetic waves, which may offer great potentials in self-adaptive intelligent wireless communications.
