O ABUSO DE PSICOTRÓPICOS NA ATUALIDADE: CONFIGURAÇÃO SOCIOCULTURAL

Abstract

The growth of the pharmaceutical industry market has been expanded due to the phenomenon of medicalization of life. In recent decades, the application of psychotropic drugs has grown in several Western countries and even in some Eastern countries. The reason for this intensification is due to the constant expansion of diagnoses of psychiatric disorders, and also to the insertion of new psychotropic drugs in the pharmaceutical market. Thus, the aim of the research is to discuss the phenomenon of psychotropic abuse nowadays as a symptom of the sociocultural configuration in force. This is a literature review study based on the following virtual informational resources for theoretical foundation: Electronic Psychology Journals (PePSIC), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) and Google Scholar.
