Abstract
In his 1932 lecture on "Femininity," Freud reviews some aspects that he considers fundamental in his understanding of women. Despite the fact that the text was written almost a century ago and there are aspects that are clearly outdated, its reading does not leave us indifferent. Why? Because despite the passage of time, some of the conceptions about femininity of that moment are still very present today. Freud addresses in his text issues such as upbringing, motherhood and sexuality. Can something be rescued from its conception in these themes? The text reviews these and other issues from a gender perspective, taking into account Freud's androcentrism, which runs through his theory and concepts (such as penis envy).
