Abstract

In a previous paper, we proposed a new control method for SVC which is utilized to control the voltage of an operating point. The proposed method keeps the control characteristics of SVC constant even if the reactance of the power source side fluctuates, while the control response of the conventional method is easily affected by fluctuations in the power source side reactance. We applied the model reference adaptive control (MRAC) method in the proposed method. However, we did not take load fluctuations into consideration in the previous paper. Load fluctuations during control operation cause an undesirable fluctuation in the adaptive parameter, and may disturb the power system or make SVC control unstable. In this paper, we describe a new control method that we have developed to maintain the stability of SVC, even if load fluctuations occur.
