Abstract

One way of accommodating integrated traffic having various transmission rates is to use a multi-code transmission in CDMA mobile communications systems. The simultaneous transmission of multiple signals, however, increases call blocking and degrades communications quality. We previously proposed a dynamic cell configuration (DCC) scheme for reducing the adverse effects of non-uniform traffic in CDMA systems. In the present study, we evaluated the DCC performance for environments in which voice/data integrated traffic is flowing using multi-code transmission. It is shown that the use of DCC reduces call blocking probability and improves communications quality for data-users as well as voice-users.
