Abstract

Summary. The paper presents a clinical observation that can be an example of the use of vagotomy as an alternative method of reducing the secretory activity of the stomach in massive multiple gunshot lesions of the gastrointestinal tract due to the absence of antacid drugs. The impetus for this was the possessions and teachings of Academician O. O. Shalimov on the introduction of vagotomy into surgical practice, whose ideas live on to this day and are worthily continued by surgeons — our contemporaries and compatriots.
