Abstract
An improved method of signal to noise ratio (SNR) estimation is proposed in this paper to solve the unknown SNR when extracted the angle measurements for two unresolved targets in monopulse radar. A signal processor with high sampling rate is necessary to the target returns. Special samples are selected to estimate the SNR according to the detection results of two unresolved targets. The maximum likelihood (ML) angle extractor can be used for estimating the direction of arrival (DOA) of each target with this prior information on SNR. The performance of the method proposed in this paper is studied via computer simulation.
