Bonding Requirements for the Surface Mining of Coal

Abstract

The legislation, regulations, enforcement, etc. are compared for 8 appalachian state governments with respect to the reclamation of strip mined land. State agencies administering the laws, bonding requirements, departmental hearings, court procedures, etc. are considered and compared. Bonding requirements and the length of time allowed for reclamation are considered in some detail. (LTN)
