Abstract

The electrical properties of insulating films on metal electrodes placed in electrolyte solutions are of particular interest because novel electroactive polymers such as polypyrrole are being prepared by electropolymerisation in electrolytic cells. By measuring the electrical characteristics of the layer in situ, it is possible to monitor its quality during deposition[1]. In addition, a considerable effort is being expended on methods for coating electrodes and semiconductor devices with suitable materials in order to form sensors [2] and systems capable of selective electrocatalysis [3].
