Who Promotes Land Documentation in Uganda?

Abstract

This study analyses the promoters of land documentation in three districts (Kanungu, Nakasongola and Nwoya) located in different regions of Uganda. The study uses cross-section data collected in early 2019. We found that on average, about 73 percent of the respondents in the three study districts were aware of individuals or organizations that were encouraging land documentation. The highest percentage of respondents that were aware of land documentation promoters was in Nwoya (88.72%), Kanungu (62.98%) and Nakasongola (58.48%). Village local council leaders received the highest mentions as land documentation promoters in Kanungu and Nakasogola while NGOs dominated in Nwoya.
