Abstract

A common application of UAVs is to search an area for certain targets. Often UAVs miss targets in spite of sensing the target region with its sensors. Possible reasons of missing targets and their remedy is suggested in the paper. Designing a UAV deployment strategy optimizing search time along with the dependability of the search is the focus of this work. A strategy, where different UAVs in a group search at different heights, is proposed to increase dependability of the search.
